Somewhere along the line kasi, the best they got is experience. Lets assume that they didn't had the knack of cycling the waters of their fish...para sa kanila, wala namang nangyaring masama eh. So what's the fuss about it?

Coming from the words of some serious hobbyist I've met for being in the hobby for more than a decade, "sometimes, your experience is your best teacher and guide. Madami ka mababasa sa libro o sa internet tungkol sa hobby na hindi gaano applicable sa atin."

Oftentimes, I agree.

I've seen in some books to put blanket over your tanks as not to raise their temp at night. Duh?

Sa books, they always advise to put gravel. Pero, mas madami yata sa mga fish enthusiast dito na hindi gumagamit nun eh.

My point being, its good that we research first on what we do. Pero, hindi naman siguro blueprint yung mga yun para hindi natin baliin. They are more of a guide to us.

So personally, I wouldn't take it negatively against those from cartimar who does not go by the book. It works for them. As long as it does not unwittingly harm the fish to the point of death, so be it.

Side note lang po. When I had numerous large (50g and up) fish tanks before, not even once I cycled my water. I was keeping aba-aba, giant gourami, peacock bass, siamese tigers, oscars, knives, gars, bichirs, redtail and shovelnose catfishes, piranhas, etc..at that time. Ni isa, wala naman ako naging problema. They were very healthy at that time. Siguro, unfair naman sa akin kung may magsasabing mali ang ginagawa ko na hindi ko nacycle yung mga tubig na ginagamit ko, yet healthy naman mga naging fish ko. Opinion ko lang... got my point?

if you get to talk to the owners of some petshops in cartimar (who are also hobbyists), they will give you sound advice if you are a newbie. paul chua (of metro pet shop) is very knowledgable and friendly. also jojo, A1 (if you talk to Ivan) and pet city. never ask a tindero/tindera about complicated aspect of the hobby. they will just give you a blank stare if you ask sorta technical questions. and dont give them scientific names, they might laugh at you (out of ignorance). :)

depende rin kasi yun sa water eh... sa amin kasi sa laguna deep well lang gamit namin kaya fresh yung water and malapit kami both sa bukid and lake kaya malinis naman tubig dito and less o walang chlorine unlike sa nawasa...

to be sure mas ok na yung magcycle ka atleast a day para mas safe pero sa experience ko wala pa naman ako namatay na isda because of not cycling...
